The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative support to the HR department and assists with the daily operations of HR functions. This role helps maintain employee records, coordinate recruitment and onboarding, support benefits and leave administration, and ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist with the recruitment process, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
Support the onboarding process by preparing new hire paperwork, assisting/conducting orientation sessions, and ensuring all required documents are completed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation with integrity and confidentiality.
Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees regarding standard policies, benefits, and hiring processes; refer more complex questions to senior HR staff or management.
Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
Act as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, including health, disability, and retirement plan administrators.
Assist with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, company-wide meetings, employee recognition programs, holiday events, and retirement celebrations.
Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to quickly learn payroll systems, HRIS, and other HR-related applications.

Education and Experience:

1-2 yrs in HR assistant role
High School diploma
Associate degree in related field preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are in an office environment. Physical requirements include lifting to 25 pounds occasionally. Subject to sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. Requires speech, hearing and visual acuity.
